I remember growing up as a young girl in Lagos, and we had cousins that were never spoken to in Yoruba. I thought it was Da Bomb cos I thought they were so so posh. Now I stay trying to watch Yoruba films and learn the proverbs of old. I’m in love with women like Joke Silva and Chimamanda Adichie who are so eloquent without losing trace of their roots.
So, if you’re abroad and worry about raising “innit” children, these books might be a fun way to start! This one is Yoruba-based, is about the market and a goat. Mgbo, my Igbo and Hausa bredrin, where are your books?! See the other books and languages available here – http://bit.ly/1Lrc1Xw
